Sheikh Zayed as he used to be in 1967
Rediffusion was a UK Telecommunications Company that joined with Associated Newspapers in 1955 to provide programmes for UK new Independent Television Service. In 1967 Rediffusion received sponsorship from Intertel (an international organisation of Television Services) to make a TV Documentary called "Farewell Arabia" about Abu Dhabi's new Oil Wealth. Documentary shows how Sheikh Zayed is using Abu Dhabi's Oil Wealth on construction, defence, education and health assisted by Western expertise. Documentary also focuses on Abu Dhabi's traditional way of life as it used to be 1967. "Farewell Arabia"'s title alludes to Abu Dhabi's traditional way of life disappearing under the influence of Oil Wealth. Video contains historic footage of life in Abu Dhabi in the 1960s and reflects how life in Dubai used to be in 1967.
