Sharjah Airport as it used to be in 1930

Modern Dubai's Airport is an International Hub for Air Travellers but Dubai as it used to be competed with Sharjah to be that hub. In the early days of international air transport, Sharjah had become the recognised stopover for Imperial Airways flying from England to India and Australia. Sheikh Rashid understood the growing importance of air travel. Against opposition from the British Government he built Dubai's first Airport in the 1960s. Dubai's Airport was key to Dubai's future growth.

This fascinating video clip shows Sharjah Airport as it used to be in the 1930s and provides an insight of how air travel used to be. No Duty Free or deciding which video to watch in those days!!! Flatbed meant a flat bed!!!
