Marilyn Wouters lived in Dubai from 1988 to 2003. Marilyn videoed many aspects of life in Dubai as it used to be. This video is of Marilyn's extensive "cruise" on Dubai Creek in 1988. Dubai Creek then was still very much a commercial waterway providing the base for much of Dubai's offshore oil activity. The video shows cargo ships, offshore workboats as well as trading dhows lying alongside the Creek. Dubai's Cargo Wharves are still in place, there is a glimpse of one of Dubai's many Water Towers and a tour of Sheraton Hotel's Dinner Dhow.
