Dubai as it used to be in the late 1960s.
Old Dubai Post Office made of corrugated iron walls and roof. It was where Dubai's mail was received, sorted and delivered. Demolished in the 1970s.
Ambassador Hotel was newly built in the late 1960s. It was the first major hotel development in Dubai.
Originally the Eastern Bank, it was taken over and became the Chartered Bank in the early 1970s
Shell supplied much of fuel oils and Lubricants in Dubai in the 1970s. This building housed their offices.
Dubai Municipality used this yard as their workshops and garage for their vehicles and equipment. Today it houses a car park and UAE Finance Building
Dubai Creek was being reclaimed in the 1960s. Here land is being reclaimed that today is where tourist dhows and abras operate.
Dubai had many old houses with windtowers in the early 1970s. All were demolished to make way for apartment buildings and retail shops. Only some of the windwoers in Bastakia were saved from demoition and restored.
