In the late 1960s Dubai created the Khazzans, the first undersea oil storage in the World. It is a unique design that still operates today. The new Slideshow shows hows the Khazzans work and were built.CLICK HERE.

New Section called Tales of Old Dubai with "How many Dirhams?" as the first tale. These will be my attempt at telling stories about everyday events in Old Dubai. Maybe they will convey something of the character of Dubai as it used to be.

A new Photogallery about the construction of theLifting Section of Al Maktoum Bridge. Has some unique photos.

Site has been reconfigured to fit on 1024 X 768 Computer Screens and above.

Availability of fresh water has played a key role in Dubai's rapid development. But fresh water was not available in Old Dubai. Unique and previously unpublished photographs provided by Ludwig Hejze show how fresh water came to Dubai in the 1960s and became one of the building blocks for Dubai's astonishing development.
