Dubai's Diwan and Bastakia 1984

Now you see it........

This unique 1984/5 photo shows the old Government Offices (Diwan) with the characteristic windtowers of Bastakia in the background. Foreground left is Sheikh Rashid's local Yacht "Zabeel" moored by the Scotch Derrick Crane imported from Scotland to help discharge the barges moored along this quay.

Now you don't!

Sadly many of the windtowers in this photo were demolished to make way for a new and modern Diwan complex.
