"Back in Dubai" sung by Sal Davies became "Dubai Theme Song" in the mid 1980s. Sal Davies was a Tanzanian Entertainer with a world wide following. Few in Dubai knew who he was but they knew his song!

The song's lyrics said little about life in Dubai. More importantly the song recognised Dubai (Back in Dubai) with Sal repeatedly declaring "Dubai is mine". Dubai was still relatively unknown in 1984. Many Expats had come to live and work in unknown Dubai with their families. They felt Dubai was their home. So "Back in Dubai" resonated with the Expat Community. Children of that 1980s Expat Generation remember the song although it has long ago faded from the airwaves. Sal Davies' iconic "Back in Dubai" is again being heard. This time on the Internet.
