Old Bastakia
In 1970s Dubai there were few cars, hardly any roads but plenty of camels! Driving during daylight hours meant slowing down whenever camels were seen near the road. Camels are unpredictable and can move quickly in any direction. Ignore them and you could easily have a camel through your windscreen. Many unwary drivers did - often with fatal results both for the camel and the driver. Driving at night on unlit roads was a dangerous activity. Drive too fast and the driver sees the camel too late. The camel is built to cause major road accidents! The car hits the camel's legs, the camel's body descends onto the car's passenger cabin, crushes the cabin and its occupants plus distributes nasty bodily fluids over everyone.
Camels are cute - but not on the roads!
