Soldiers of the TOS were as much "at home" on the back of a Camel as driving their Landrovers. In the 1950s and 60s TOS was the only Military Force in the Region. Sheikh Rashid used the TOS as the basis for developing his Dubai Defense Force which eventually became part of the UAE Army.

This remarkable series of photos shows life in the TOS during the 1950s and 1960s and includes photos of Dubai and surrounding areas in that time. Individual photos with explanations can be seen HERE.
