Queen Elizabeth II traveled from
Abu Dhabi to Dubai by air. She flew
in an aircraft of the Queen's Royal
Flight
Dubai Airport's equipment was
decorated with both UAE and UK emblems.
Queen Elizabeth II was met at
Dubai Airport by a formal welcoming
party.
Crowds were on Dubai's streets
to greet Queen Elizabeth II.
Queen Elizabeth II was driven
from Dubai Airport to Port Rashid
where she was to board HMY Britannia.
Port Rashid's Entrance was decorated
for Queen Elizabeth's arrival. The
Container Inspection Platform carried
a large "Welcome" placard.
HMY Britannia arrived at Berth
5 a short time before the Queen arrived
by road.
HMY Britannia was escorted by
the UAE Navy. Dubai Defense Force
provided a Guard of Honour for Queen
Elizabeth. In the background is British
India's MV Dwarka. Dwarka and Dumra
provided a regular passenger service
between India and the Gulf. Most
of the itinerant workers traveled
to and from the home countries on
these ships.

Royces were owned by the Dignitaries.
Reputedly Sheikh Rashid had told
them to buy their own Rolls Royces
for the occasion. He did not want
to spend his own money!

HH Sheikh Rashid accompanied Queen
Elizabeth II to a service at the
Holy Trinity Church as a demonstration
of Dubai's religious tolerance.
HH Shiekh Rashid took the Queen
on a dhow cruise on Dubai Creek.
The Royal Dhow was accompanied
by other dhows carrying local musicians
and dancers who performed during
the cruise.

The cruise ended at the British
Embassy where the Queen met local
schoolchildren.
For the final evening of the Queen's
visit, the Royal Marines Band Performed "Beating
the Retreat" at Berth 5 Port Rashid.
Over 4,500 people were invited.
When Sheikh Rashid arrived for
the Farewell Ceremony the watching
crowd spontaneously stood and applauded
until he boarded the HMY Britannia
to bid farewell to the Queen.
