Chicago Beach Hotel in Old Dubai 1975

Chicago Beach Hotel was located at the end of Jumeirah Beach Road past Umm Sequiem. When the Hotel was built it was "out of town"! There was little development in the area as this photo shows. Today the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Burj Al Arab and Water Park have been built on this site.

The Hotel had 615 rooms, extensive sports and conference facilities plus holiday villas on the beachfront. Chicago Beach Hotel was demolshed in 1998 to make way for the Bouj Al Arab and Jumeirah Beach Hotels. Both of these new Hotels incorporated some of the features of old Chicago Beach Hotel. The Beachcomer Restuarant and Bierkeller Bar were popular attractions of the old Hotel.

Chicago Beach Hotel was popular with Tourists in the 1980s and 1990s offering Resort Style accommodation and guaranteed sunshine. It was ahead of its time in offering Resort Style Holidays in Dubai. Chicago Beach Hotel paved the way for the Tourist Industry in Dubai.
