Flying to Dubai as it used to be in 1963

No Airbus A380s in 1963!

Dubai Airport's runway was still made of compacted sand in 1963. Only small commuter aircraft such as the De Havilland Dove could land at Dubai Airport. Air Support Services were rudimentary. Passenger Services were almost non existent. This De Havilland Dove was part of the Gulf Aviation Fleet based in Bahrain providing air services to the Gulf Region. It took a major rebuild of the runway using concrete before larger planes could fly in and out of Dubai Airport.
